Yield
Use this option to see cannabis seeds filtered by the potential size of the harvest that the plants will yield. This is affected by height, but mostly determined by the genetics of each type. Cannabis can be grown to almost any size indoors, making per-plant weight extremely variable, so the filters show what kind of harvest the different types produce if they are grown under identical conditions.
Climate zones
This option shows cannabis seeds filtered by the type of climate they need for successful outdoor growing. If growing cannabis indoors, it is not necessary to check the climate requirements. Do bear in mind that a strain can always be grown in a warmer climate than its rating - a strain rated for cool climates can also be grown in warm or temperate zones, and types in the ‘Temperate’ filter can also grow in a warm climate.
Height
Choose this option to view seeds filtered by the height of the cannabis plants they will produce. Height is affected by vegetation time, which can be extended or shortened by the grower, but mainly determined by the genetics of each specific strain. Height can also be reduced by using certain growing techniques causing the plants to branch outwards instead of upwards.
Flowering Time
This option shows cannabis seeds filtered by the length of the flowering period during which the plants develop their smokeable buds, when they need to be exposed to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness in each 24 hour period for a certain amount of weeks. The flowering period is measured from the first day it experiences this 12/12 light cycle. The vegetation time (before the buds form) can be lengthened or shortened to suit the grower, but flowering time is set by the genetics of each particular type.
Plants will start to show the first traces of flowers within about two weeks of the 12/12 light cycle starting, and should be kept in this cycle for the entire length of the flowering phase. You should bear in mind that inconsistent or poor conditions in a grow space can slow down the development of buds, so the flowering time may be longer than shown.
Sativa / Indica
Select this option to browse cannabis seeds filtered by their percentage of Indica and Sativa genetics. Indica cannabis types are more compact, give bigger yields and have shorter flowering periods than Sativas, and create a stoned, relaxed effect. Sativas give an uplifting, more energetic high that’s worth the wait of the extra flowering time. Hybrids combine traits of both, and can be bred to favor either the Indica or Sativa side, or to create an equal balance.
